MSFS is such a mystery to me at times, last week I was happily flying without a care in the world, PC running smoothly steady FPS at around 42-45 in and around some local US airports near San Diego KSEE Gillespie Field to be precise. With no input from me after I turn on my PC MSFS has changed some of my graphic settings (I would love to know if that if this has happened to you on occasion as well). My TAA setting changed to DLSS,
Direct X11 was changed to direct X12 and Bing Maps was turned Off!! Not sure why this happens and the Bings maps would have resulted in increased FPS anyway. This change reduced my FPS down to 30-32, whilst not disastrous its a tad annoying. So after resetting my favourites and restarting the sim I am back at KSEE but with hardly any change to my FPS still getting around 33-35 How!! Why!! So what's going on how can it be great one day and then with no changes from the user slow down 20%. Not massive for me as I only fly near smaller airports but if I venture any near any international airports FPS drops to mid 20's. I will wait until next week hoping it will be back to normal speeds maybe. Now I don't want to get fixated on FPS as everyone should have there own ideas and there own expectations on what is acceptable if 30FPS is good for you then great, but you would want it to a constant thing and not change like the weather.
Each aircraft of course creates different results with regards to FPS For instance an ASBO C152 will result in 40-45FPS whilst my wonderful Black Square Baron results in 35-37 FPS. It seems obvious but its worth stating that this is why you have to pick and choose carefully where you fly dependant on your system or you will not get the best from this amazing program.
